Where to Retire Editor Annette Fuller said that budget-friendly locales are attractive to retirees. “This cross-country lineup of beauty and appeal proves that charisma doesn’t have to come at a high price,” Fuller said. “Las Cruces in Southern New Mexico is near the rugged Organ Mountains, offering residents scenic views and outdoor jaunts. Downtown hosts museums, galleries and a main plaza for public events, and New Mexico State University beefs up the cultural offerings. One retiree boasted to our writer, “The sky is turquoise in the morning and the sunsets are spectacular.”

The article in Where to Retire also gave the Las Cruces housing market a mention for being affordable and close to several community events and features.

Where to Retire, now in its 26th year of print, is published six times a year. The magazine covers the best retirement regions, towns and master-planned communities, and recently released its 10th biennial list naming the 50 best master-planned communities in the U.S. It has a national circulation of 200,000 and is sold on various newsstands and at Barnes & Noble bookstores.
